Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

You can contact the housing office at 210-333-5900. Please keep in mind that there is a process involved in renting on Base housing to include wait times.

Brooks Air Force Base was renamed Brooks City-Base in 2002 when the Brooks Development Authority took over a special project involving the local, state, and federal government. The Authority is redeveloping the property into a science, business, and technology center, and Brooks City-Base is the largest tenant on the property. Originally one of the first World War I Army Service installations, the base was established in 1917. Housing is available on base with over 150 family housing units. To determine if there is a waiting list, military personnel are encouraged to contact the housing office for information as well as to determine the BAH rate that each individual would be eligible for to rent or own. If a waiting list exists, personnel should be eligible to reside in temporary housing until a more permanent residence can be found. Brooks Air Force Base lies in the southeast part of San Antonio, Texas on a 1300-plus-acre tract.
Nearby communities offering off-post housing include San Antonio, Alamo Heights, and Kirby. Rental homes, homes for sale, and apartments are all available within a short distance from Brooks Air Force Base. Weather in the Texas area tends to be very warm in the summer and moderate in the winter. Brooks Air Force Base is home to the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and is a premier center for medical learning and consultation. Nearby schools and universities include the Brooks Academy of Science and Engineering, the Challenger Learning Center, and Webster University. Other major units stationed at the base include the 311th Air Base Group, and the 311th Human Systems Wing as well as the Air Force Audit Agency, and the Air Force Research Laboratory.
